One thing about me: I want to empower women on the DAILY. Why? Because we deserve to win in all areas of our lives including spiritual health, money, care, relationships and everything in between!

But here’s the thing, I don’t want to take a passive role by simply wishing y’all the best with a general hope and a prayer.

I want to know how to actually biblically empower women in my daily life.

But how do I (and you) actively and consistently support other women? I put together 11 ideas for women empowerment that we can all use to support the women in our lives.

What is the Meaning of Women’s Empowerment?

In the secular world, women empowerment means equipping women with the knowledge, resources and opportunities to understand their self-worth, makes their own choices and influence social change. In fact, according to Keshab Chandra Mandal, women should be empowered in 5 major areas: social, educational, economic, political, and psychological.

I love the secular definition of female empowerment and it definitely reigns true. At the same time, we should encourage ourselves and other christian women to also seek empowerment in Christ.

What Does The Bible Say About Women Empowerment?

God says that empowerment comes from Him. It means acknowledging that power, identity and strength comes from God alone…not the one who gives promotions or positions.

And I have the bible verses to back it up...

2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me

Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Luke 10:19-20

Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. 20 But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.”

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

When we understand where empowerment comes from, we can lead other christian women to a well of power that never runs dry.

The question is how can we actually empower women, biblically?

1. Lift Her Up in Prayer

PRAYER IS PRACTICAL. Take your girlfriends concerns to the Lord and ask for their peace, strength and breakthroughs. Matthew 7:7 says, “”Ask, and it will be given to you seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

It hits different when someone else points out your most beautiful traits and powerful capabilities. Empower women in your life with a reminder of how wonderfully complex she is. Proverbs 16:24 says, “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.”

3. Text Her a Bible Verse that renews her strength

Between work, family and the guy who just won’t act right, it’s easy to get overwhelmed in this life. But we have an all powerful God that is fighting on our behalf and wants to give us rest. Matthew 11:28 says, “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Empower women by texting her a Bible verse that relates to a situation she may be going through.

4. Hold Her Accountable with Love

Jesus tells us in Galatians 6:1-2 to hold each other to a higher standard if they claim to live for Him. Encourage her not to fold on her goals. Call her out in love and allow her to do the same to you. You will both become stronger sisters in Christ.

Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer[a] is overcome by some sin, you who are godly[b] should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path.

5. Be Vulnerable in Your Testimony

I believe true vulnerability and humility is the best way to encourage and empower any female to replenish her hope in God. Like the blind man said in John 9:25, I was blind, but now I see. Once I was overwhelmed with depression and anxiety, and now have I an undescrible joy and peace.

6. Choose a devotion to study together

Dinner and devotions…God chat and coffee…Paint and praise… take your pick. Pick a relatable devotion you both would benefit from and study it together over dinner, coffee or a passive acitivty. Come prepared with prayer points, questions and key takeaways to share with one another. Not only God renew your soul, but the connection of friends will bring coffee and God chat, There is nothing like a good ole friend date to catch up.

6. Be Available

Sometimes a shoulder to cry on is the only thing you can do to support someone. The death of a loved one or a heart breaking divorce can leave someone in a pain that no words can reach. Those are times that she may need to vent her feelings or just sit in silence. In this case, your availability and mere presence is empowering.

7. Support Her in Ministry

Be open to suporting a woman in her line of ministry whether that be serving youth, women or the less fortunate. Remember, there are many ways you can help her area of interest grow. You can actively serve in the ministry, take genuine interest in her mission and pour encouragement into her, or provide occasional mentorship and advice when asked.

Empowering the women in our life is something we can all do daily. Whether it be a prayer, text, or conversation, we can do it.
