Why Read a Thanksgiving Devotional?

As Christians, God desires us to live a joyful, prayerful and thankful life. Jesus wants us to have a relationship with Him. When we make the decision to ask Jesus to come into our hearts it’s important that it does not stop there. We should always be striving to build our relationship with Jesus and strengthen it. A Thanksgiving devotional is a great way to do that.

Spending time in prayer and devotions help us to grow in our walk with Jesus. We become more spiritually mature and begin to gain more knowledge and wisdom. While we are growing and learning, we can then pass off our knowledge and insight to others who may need advice and pour into them.

Overall, spending time in prayer and devotions benefits us in our life as a whole. Our faith and trust in Jesus increases, our understanding of Jesus and the Bible becomes expands, we apply what read in the Bible to situations in our lives, our desire to want to live, love and serve like Jesus multiplies, and the list goes on.

To help remain in a spirit of gratitude, I have curated a Thanksgiving devotional list to read through the Bible App.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

Thanksgiving Devotional Videos

Not everyone has time to carve out to physically read a devotion every day, especially during the busy holiday season. But, maybe you have time to listen to a two-minute video while driving to work, cooking, cleaning, etc.

On the same Bible app, you can find Teaching Clips from past Verses of the Day. The videos range from about a minute to two minutes where someone, (a pastor/speaker), gives a quick teaching on a particular topic.

So, here I have curated a list of thanksgiving related “teaching clips” to listen to. Whether you are on a time crunch, or on the go, you can still get the Word in.

Psalm 107:1

Throughout the Bible, we can see the importance of being thankful. Not only does giving thanks honor and glorify Jesus, but a thankful attitude changes the directory of your day to day life.

I pray that these thanksgiving devotionals help you to grow in thankfulness during this holiday season. But even after the Thanksgiving festivities are over, I pray that you continue to grow in thankfulness and gratitude.
