Are you inspired yet? Here I list 5 prayer room ideas to create your very own prayer room.

What is a Prayer Room?

Otherwise known as a war room, a prayer room is a dedicated space with minimal distraction to spend intentional time in God’s presence through prayer and studying His Word.

As we unpack how to create your own dedicated space, keep in mind your prayer room can be in your car, bed or on your dining room table. The main purpose of all of this is to spend intentional time with our Creator.

Why should You have a prayer room?

You should have a prayer room to better prioritize spending time with God. Our life responsibilities can easily consume our entire day, pushing out any time for God. A physical prayer room offers you a distraction free zone to read a bible study, write in a journal, or simply talk aloud to God. Plus, it’s a private space to organize and store all your bible study materials which can be very personal due to annotations and written prayers.

So, without further ado, let’s get into how you can arrange your very own prayer room.

5 Prayer Room Ideas

1. Create a Bible Study Toolkit

As noted earlier, studying God’s Word is the number one priority to a prayer room. Daily Grace Co. offers practical bible study tools that make spending time with God more achievable on a daily basis.

Daily Grace creates resources to empower and equip believers to venture deeper into God’s Word.

They’ve been my one stop shop for bible studies, prayer journals and much more. Below, I dive into some of their best resources to add to your bible study toolkit.

1. Esther Bible Study

This 3 week Bible study uses the story of Esther, queen of the Persian empire, to convey God’s mighty works even when He’s seemingly silent. If you want to know how to remain hopeful in God’s promises for your life  in the midst of hardship, add this Bible study to your queue.

2. Prayer Cards for Women

This beautifully designed prayer card set make God’s word more accessible in everyday life. One card a day is perfect to jumpstart your daily quiet time or serve as a quick rejuvenation during a busy work day. Each card includes a bible verse to meditate on and several prayer prompts to open the line of communication between you and God. Prompts will guide you to pray for friends, wisdom, contentment, unbelievers and more.

3. Prayer Request Journal

I want to do a better job of remembering the prayers God has already answered in my life. That’s why I had to immediately add this mini prayer request  journal to my Bible study toolkit. Not only does this mini resource leave space for a prayer request, but also a space for when and how God answered that prayer. To see God’s consistent care and attention towards you is certainly encouraging.

4. Dwell Journal

Has your mind ever been overloaded with racing thoughts when trying to mediate on God’s word? This journal offers a great space to both dump the chaos of the mind onto paper and record what God is saying to you through His Word. There’s a featured section on each page for listing an attribute of God, general note taking and reflecting on a bible verse. It’s a great resource to narrow your focus and go deeper with God.

5. Gold Foil Tabs

This one is for the girlies who love aesthetically pleasing organization tools. Give the feeling of opening your bible a new cheerfulness with these vibrant floral bible tabs. They’re perfect for anyone new to reading a physical bible and want a directory handy to quickly find chapters of the Bible. Plus, they’re super easy to install. 6. Pastel Bible Highlighter Set

Currently leaving my corporate yellow highlighter at work and opting for this beautiful pastel color highlighter set for my prayer room. These specific highlighters are specially designed to not bleed through even the thinnest bible pages making it perfect for making annotations.

7. Blush Pen Set

For all your note taking needs, these pretty pink pens not only write smoothly, but are designed with phrases that remind you to rely on our never failing God.

Now that you have a practical bible study toolkit, let’s get into how to decorate your prayer room.

2. Create a Prayer Board

Pin your prayers on a bulletin board to remind yourself of who and what you are praying for. This linen wall bulletin board set comes with 2 boards and a box of wooden push pins. A prayer board can simultaneously serve as decoration for your prayer room and a tool to usher you into prayer. You can even tear your prayers from the Mini Prayer Request Journal and pin them on the board!

 3. Use minimal and cozy furnishing

The furniture you choose to arrange your prayer room is dependent upon the size of your space and your budget. The options I’ve listed below are preferable to a small room in your home and for people creating a prayer room on a budget.

  • First up is a comfy lounge chair to sink into as you zero in on your reading of choice. This one is made with a cozy faux fur and comes with a footrest ottoman. It folds easily making it perfect to store in small spaces.
  • A dimmable light is a must for a prayer room. You want to be able to see the pages of your bible, but also create a relaxed and intimate vibe to connect with God. This floor lamp has a minimal and modern design and is remote controlled.
  • Next up is a bookshelf to house your bible study tools and decorate with personal photos or inspirational quotes. This one is a two tier vintage oak bookcase perfect for a small space.
  • Last but not least, arrange your war room with a small desk. This way you can comfortably write in your journal or use your laptop to research a particular God-related topic. I’m personally a fan of the lap desk. It’s more budget and small room friendly. This one has an adjustable height feature and  side compartment to store pens or notepads.

4. Use Greenery and Light

To further decorate your prayer room, utilize the art of greenery and lights. If you don’t want the hassle of living plants, this set of fake plants will still breathe new life into your space.

This set of string lights are a trendy decoration prayer room idea. String them along your greenery, bookshelf or wall art to create a serene vibe.

5. Use wall art

Lightly decorate the walls with art that inspires you to usher into God’s presence. The options I’ve linked below are decorative enough to liven the walls of your prayer room without being loud or distracting.
