11 Scriptures on Healing Your Mind

1. Matthew 11:28-30

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

God invites everyone to come to Him for rest and peace. He calls Himself humble, reasonable, and sympathetic. Take God up on His promise and find comfort today! He loves you.

2. 1 Corinthians 10:13

"No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

It can be easy to feel like fate has it out for you. However, God is not against you–He is for you! Though our world is full of suffering, God says that He is watchful and protective of His people. Temptation to despair, settle, or resent can be overwhelming, especially in the wake of hardship. God wants to empower you to overcome temptation and overcome through the power of His Spirit.

3. Psalms 23

"The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever."

God promises to be your caretaker and guide. He wants to provide what is truly good for your body and soul. However, the Christian life is not easy. Even King David had to “walk through the deepest valley”. God does not promise that his beloved people will not have to suffer, but he does say that He will comfort his own.

4. Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you;  do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

God understands your situation. He wants to make it clear that He does not expect you to handle things on your own. Even if it is not on our timing or in the way we expect, God promises deliverance. You will be happy again.

5. Matthew 8:16-17

“When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.”

Jesus heals the sick and oppressed. He spent the entirety of his human life healing the afflicted and isolated, people on the lowest rung of society.  Christians should not be afraid of any power in the natural or supernatural realm because God restores and protects those who love Him. Whoever trusts in Him can be healed and their sorrows replaced with inner joy through the Holy Spirit. If you’re wondering about good Bible verses for healing, John’s gorgeous passage on the mercy of Christ is sure to touch and inspire you.

6. Philippians 4:6-9

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

God doesn’t want us to worry. He understands human burdens because He became human. He wants us to let go of carrying our worries on our own. It may be the default position for many of us, as we’ve never considered whatever we are so concerned about in context of our faith. However, God wants us to relax and give the ultimate responsibility over to Him.

We can cooperate with God’s plan to give us peace through putting our minds on worthwhile and beautiful things. Place those thoughts of worry at Jesus’ feet and focus on things that bring you laughter, relief, fulfillment or peace.

7. Isaiah 42:16

“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.”

Every thoughtful human has come against the darkness in life. That’s why God’s promise that He will take care of our future is so wonderful. We are no longer drowned in confusion, despair, or helplessness. God promises to never leave those who love him.

8. Psalm 27:13

“I remain confident of this:I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

If you are looking for psalms for healing the soul, Psalm 27:13 is a wonderful candidate. It reassures the follower of Christ of His true faithfulness.

Christians often speak about God’s love. However, it can be hard to think of His love as practical or relating to the here-and-now.  King David had many struggles he had to endure in his lifetime, but he still saw God’s work in his life. The same is true for all who believe. You will see God’s goodness in your personal life.

9. Romans 8:26-27

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God.”

The Spirit of God is always with us. He helps us when we don’t know what to do or even what to ask. This is one reason that God does not want us to feel ashamed when we see our weaknesses. In God’s eyes, you are always in desperate need of Him even (especially when) you think you are strong. This means that God is always working for you whether or not you are able to see it. God the Spirit prays to God the Father and God the Son on your behalf.

10. Psalm 34:18

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

God has a special love for the heartbroken. People often associate “doing well” with being blessed by God. However, the Bible asserts that God is actually much closer to people in anguish. That is why Christians can have hope no matter what the circumstances.

11. John 14:26-27

“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to us. The Spirit will give us peace in a truly profound way that will renew us from the inside out. That’s why Jesus asks us not to be afraid and to trust Him and His purposes. He also draws a comparison to the world and its false promises. Christians are given the satisfaction of soul that the world and the Devil say can be found in temporary enjoyment.

God promises healing to all who ask, and has provided many renewing bible verses in His word.

Jesus says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8).

All of God’s spiritual blessings that renew, heal, strengthen, and comfort are available to anyone, at any time, so long as they come in the name of Jesus.
